When Kate Hudson arrived at the New York premiere of her new movie Nine on Tuesday there was one accessory missing from her red carpet ensemble: Alex Rodriguez.
While Kate has yet to publicly acknowledge her split from the sexy slugger, sources tell Star the couple have indeed called it quits. “They started having problems about a month ago and tried like crazy to work through their differences,” an insider says. “Unfortunately, they kept realizing they were on different pages and it was never going to work out, especially on Alex’s end.”
The insider explains, “Kate wanted to take the next step and Alex just wasn’t ready. He hasn’t even been divorced from his ex-wife Cynthia for a year and Kate was putting pressure on him for something more. Alex just wasn’t ready for the things Kate wants.”
One of those things was buying a New York City apartment together. Another source tells Star the couple checked out a penthouse pad during the first week of December but A-Rod didn’t seem enthusiastic about it. The insider confirmed, “It was around that point that Alex decided he needed to cool things down and take a step back.”
Days later, A-Rod was spotted at Miami’s newest hot spot WALL at W South Beach with a group of pals. An eyewitness tells Star, “It was obvious that he and Kate were done because Alex wasted no time making himself available to a group of gorgeous women by flirting with each and every one of them.”
